Ruggedized couplers have use in undersea and space applications
HI REL ruggedized couplers are fused fiber-optic components deployed in environments such as undersea and space, where component replacement costs are prohibitive. They offer a 0.1 FIT (Failures in Time) rate, equivalent to one failure in ~50,000 components in 25 years. Space models add material lot unicity, qualification in high radiation environments, and lot validation testing.
