Hauppauge, New York, April 6, 2004--Sagitta, a supplier of automated polishing and inspection equipment for fiberoptic components and connectors, has formed a strategic partnership with Moritex Corporation of Japan. Moritex is now the representative in Japan for Sagitta's leading-edge fiber optic process equipment.

"With pressure to manufacture lower cost products and the FTTH Japanese initiative, we feel automation is the solution for enabling component manufacturers to keep production lines in Japan and not have to move them to low-labor countries," said Jeff Long, director of sales at Sagitta. "As one of the best established fiberoptic agents for the Japan fiber optics and photonics industries, Moritex is the ideal partner for us."

Gemini, Sagitta's flagship product family, offers an integrated process solution of polishing, cleaning, and optical inspection for fiber optic components. The Gemini-Pi services planar devices, v-groove fiber arrays, ferrule assemblies, and other critical components. The Gemini-Cx is the process solution for connectors, cable assemblies, and flex circuits.
