The FVOA-9000 MEMS-based variable optical attenuator has response times of <2 ms with lower wavelength-dependent loss for transient suppression inerbium-doped fiber amplifiers. It comes in a TO can hermetic package and does not require an external ESD protection board. The small size makes it suitable for pluggable coherent modules, and compact line cards and transponders.
