To facilitate development, application and production of illumination solutions for electronics applications in the western U.S. and in Asia, Lumitex, Inc. (Strongsville, OH) has established a West Coast research and development center in Irvine, California and an Asian volume-manufacturing center in Taipei, Taiwan. Lumitex, formerly Poly-Optical Products, specializes in patented light-emitting diode (LED) and optical fiber technologies. According to Scott Diestel, Western Regional Manager for Lumitex. Lumitex West now provides backlighting designs using the company's full range of fiber optic technology--including its UniGlo and other fiber optic panels--to light cell phone keypads, computer keyboards and a variety of membrane switch applications that require tight space tolerances and minimal thicknesses.
