JDSU recognized by Frost & Sullivan as global fiber-optic test leader

Milpitas, CA--JDSU has earned Frost & Sullivan's Global Market Share Leadership Award for the fiber-optic test market.

Milpitas, CA--JDSU announced it has earned Frost & Sullivan's Global Market Share Leadership Award for the fiber-optic test market. JDSU was recognized by the independent research firm as the leading supplier of fiber test solutions critical to the build out of high-capacity fiber networks and the quality delivery of video and other high-bandwidth services.

Frost & Sullivan also named JDSU as the market leader in the next-generation synchronous optical networking (SONET)/synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH) test category, which included JDSU's optical transport network (OTN) and Ethernet (jitter/wander) test capabilities.

JDSU was recognized for these specific reasons:

With a significant installed base of fiber optic test equipment around the world, JDSU is uniquely positioned to help its customers effectively address network challenges created by rapidly growing video traffic. Recent industry reports predict Internet video will represent 57% of all consumer Internet traffic by 2014. As Frost & Sullivan reports, JDSU is frequently first-to-market with solutions for testing components, systems and networks from FTTx/PON, to WDM/ROADM, and submarine networks. JDSU's ground-breaking fiber inspection solutions allow customers to ensure the quality of a connection before performing communication tests and enable customers to avoid optical network contamination. In recognizing JDSU's support of next-generation SONET/SDH deployments, OTN and Ethernet services, Frost & Sullivan highlighted JDSU's multi-service test platforms support for service providers' move toward packet optical networks using Ethernet and optical transport network (OTN) technologies to aggregate and transport high-speed 10G and 40G/100G traffic. JDSU leads the SONET/SDH jitter/wander market and has been first to offer synchronous Ethernet jitter/wander solutions.

"JDSU is proud to be named market leader in multiple test categories, including those that allow our customers to quickly and cost-effectively deploy new network capacity and services as bandwidth demand accelerates," said David Heard, president of JDSU's Communications Test and Measurement business segment (see www.jdsu.com/test).
