The Trumpf Laser Technology Center (Plymouth, MI) unveiled its latest scanner welding technology at the Fiberoptic Automation Expo in Chicago. The Programmable Focusing Optic focuses the laser beam to any defined location on the working area using a series of Galvo mirrors. With an integrated pulsed or CW laser, the device can weld parts without requiring movement of the focusing optics or the workpiece. This eliminates the need for linear axes and additional controls. The device also can be equipped with a vision system to facilitate beam adjustment to compensate for any deviation in workpiece or weld location.
According to company management, with one laser unit, up to four Programmable Focusing Optic devices can be operated simultaneously or in succession. For more details, visit www.us.trumpf.com.
