Fuzhou Fujian, China, August 21, 2003. Koncent Communication, Inc., a fiberoptic component manufacturer and one-stop source for all kinds of isolators, has been awarded US patent 20030048912 for a two-stage optical isolator with simplified assembly process and improved performance.

The application of the patent is in optical communication systems, which can improve performance of broad bandwidth and lower insertion loss while products with reduced size can be produced at lower cost.

"Therefore, the object of the present invention is to provide new isolator configuration and methods of manufacture of isolator with less number of required optical wedges. The isolator can be produced with simpler assembling process at lower cost to achieve better performance with reduced polarization dependent losses, that resolves the difficulties and limitations discussed above." Said Bin Lin, CTO of Koncent. "While maintaining Koncent's consistent high quality and competitive prices in the market."

The isolator is ideal for applications of EDFA, CATV, Fiber Optics Link, WDM & DWDM systems, Fiber Optic Instruments, Transmitter & Fiber laser and Laboratory R&D.
