HAUPPAUGE, NY, March 12, 2003. Dr. Joyce Kilmer has joined the management team of Sagitta. Having both domestic and international involvement with fiber optics for nearly 20 years, Dr. Kilmer becomes Director of Fiber Optic Products. In this role he will lead Sagitta's marketing efforts relating to new production equipment for Fiber Optics component manufacturing.
After receiving a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Dr. Kilmer joined Bellcore (now Telcordia) where he became Director of the Optical Cable, Connectors, and Splicing labs in the late 1980's. Dr. Kilmer supervised technical managers creating generic requirements and conducting product analyses of fiber optic components and systems and actively participated in international standards bodies such as the TIA/EIA, IEC, and ITU.
Since 1992, Dr. Kilmer has had a variety of experiences in the fiber optic field such as: Director of Applications Engineering at Symmorphix, developing amplified planar integrated photonic chips; Photonic Networking Consultant for Corning Cable Systems; Cofounder of Quantium Optics, a MEMS based fiber optic switch start-up company; Charter member of Lightwave magazine's editorial advisory board; and the exclusive North American Agent for OPTOTEC S.p.A. Dr. Kilmer has over 50 technical publications in the fields of electrical engineering, telecommunications, and fiber optics.
