Salem, NH, November 14, 2002 StockerYale, Inc. has announced the availability of Bow-tie polarization maintaining fiber. This fiber is the first in a series of polarization maintaining fibers to be released by the Company and are specifically designed for use in fiber optic gyroscopes, (FOGS), voltage and current sensors, high-data-rate communications systems, laser pigtailing, connectivity between source lasers and modulators, and polarization-sensitive components.

StockerYale's advanced polarization maintaining fiber is designed for unparalleled performance and is available for immediate delivery.

StockerYale's polarization maintaining fiber is available at operating wavelengths of 1300 nm and 1550 nm, has a cladding diameter of 80 um and a coating diameter of 165 um. StockerYale can also custom design a polarization maintaining fiber that meets a customer's exact specifications.

The Company's polarization maintaining fiber has a high birefringence (hi-bi) to better maintain polarization and low attenuation to provide greater flexibility in system designs. Reduced outer cladding diameters also improve coil turn density and reliability.

Commenting on the availability of its newest specialty optical fiber (SOF), Paul Jortberg, senior vice president of sales and marketing for optical components said, "We are extremely pleased with the addition of polarization maintaining (PM) fiber to our growing suite of SOF products. The introduction of this specialty fiber opens up exciting new sales opportunities that were not available to us before." Jortberg continued, "In addition to offering our standard, high-performance polarization maintaining fiber, we also have the resources and expertise to work with our customers to design a specific polarization maintaining fiber that meets their exact specifications. This flexibility allows us to provide comprehensive solutions to the Fiber Optic Gyroscope and Sensor markets."
