Pirelli to manufacture fiberoptic cable with PT Kabelmetal

Pirelli Cables (Milan, Italy) and PT Kabelmetal (Indonesia) have signed an equal partnershi¥to produce fiberoptic and electrical cable in Indonesia. The 350-person facility will be located in Jakarta. Production is expected to begin in 1996, and the companies plan to invest $70 million in the next few years. Pirelli is also slated to supply optical amplifiers to Telefonica de Espana SA (Spain) for its upgrade of 500 km of network between Madrid and Andalusia.
