• United Technologies sells Bragg-grating technology to 3M

    Bragg-grating technology for use in broad-based applications in telecommunications, private networks, sensors, and other advanced communications applications has been acquired by 3M (Austin, TX) from United Technologies (Bloomfield, CT). "This acquisition broadens and strengthens 3M`s fiberoptic technology platform," said Raymond E. Bodnar, technical director of the 3M fiberoptics laboratory. The gratings will be manufactured at 3M Specialty Optical Fibers (West Haven, CT).
