Silica-clad quart¥fibers have a numerical aperture of 0.22 (25° acceptance cone) and transmit in the 200- to 2100-nm spectral range. Available in standard bundle diameters of 1/16, 1/8, and 1/4 in., they are rated u¥to 2000°F (1093°C). Bundles are practically free of secondary fluorescence and do not discolor under x-ray, gamma, or short UV radiation. Special configurations such as lines and multiple branches can be requested. Applications include flame monitoring, combustion
