Fiberoptic modems
Applications of the Models VLM-100 and VLM-300 fiberoptic modems include connecting distributed PABX or channel bank networks and extending T1/E1 lines. The modems convert DSX-1/E1 data into an optical signal, which is then transmitted over a fiber cable with a typical 20-dBm optical link margin. The VLM-100 has five LBO settings to match the DSX-1 cable length and supports either AMI or B8ZS coding. Both modems provide a loo¥back at either the T1/E1 line or the fiber link for fault detection.
