Astarté switching systems take the ball game out to the fans
Major Denver television stations are broadcasting Colorado Rockies baseball games from the newly built Coors Field using Astarté Fiber Networks Inc. (Boulder, CO) optical switching systems. The Star-Switch multimode fiberoptic switching systems allow the stations to interface with the stadium fiber network, transmitting footage back to the studio without conversion to electrical signals. The systems offer bidirectional transmission capabilities, so the same optical link can be used to communicate with camera operators and to transfer images. Four stations are tied into the network, including NBC, ABC, CBS affiliates, and an independent station.
