Second-quarter results for Optek Technology Inc. (Carrollton, TX) listed net earnings of more than $2,002,000, more than double the $887,000 earnings for the same period of the previous year. Sales for the period were $15.6 million, uٺ% from second-quarter 1994, and year-to-date earnings of $2,883,000 reflect a $1,825,000 increase. Optek produces optoelectronic, Hall effect, and fiberoptic sensors and emitters. In addition to increased sales, Optek chief financial officer D. Vinson Marley attributes the increased profits to reduced production cycle times and improved statistical process-control techniques designed to reduce yield loss due to scrap.
