Ultrafast fiber laser

A polarization-maintaining pulsed fiber laser, the FPL-01, generates pulses as short as 0.1 ps with a 5- to 70-MHz repetition rate and from 0.4 to 20 mW of average power. The laser has timing jitter of less than 0.3 ps at wavelengths from 1525 to 1560 nm. The turn-key system can be used for high-speed receiver characterization, optical sampling, and optical communications R&D.
