An erbium-doped fiber amplifier is designed for use with wavelength-division-multiplexing systems. The FA1550-PS offers a noise figure of 3.5 dB, with a gain of 36 dB; gain flatness that changes less than 1 dB across the wavelength range from 1542 to 1558 nm; and output power of 14 dBm. The amplifier can be used as an in-line repeater, weak-signal amplifier, or medium power booster.
