    The market for repeatered undersea fiberoptic systems scheduled for installation from 1997 to 2003 is $15.15 billion, according to the 1997 Worldwide Summary of Fiberoptic Undersea Systems, a comprehensive industry guide released annually by KMI Corp. (Newport, RI). An average of 65,000 route-km to 75,000 route-km of new cable systems will be put into service each year. The report, Fiberoptics Markets in Europe, predicts that double-digit growth rates for Europe will continue through 2001, when the market will reach $2.73 billion--more than twice the 1996 market size.
