New fiberoptics offices and manufacturing complex opens

SpecTran officially opened its new 55,500-sq ft offices and manufacturing complex in Avon, CT, in September, with the splicing of a fiberoptic cable. The expansion is part of a $9 million project to increase the manufacturing capacity of SpecTran Specialty Optics, a wholly owned subsidiary of SpecTran. The new facility is 50% larger than the company`s previous building. A cooperative effort between SpecTran and the Connecticut Light and Power Company will make the facility more energy efficient.
