We’re seeking help from you, the Laser Focus World audience, to participate in our Salary & Career Survey! We will begin reporting results in November.

Challenges for the photonics industry have multiplied in a post-pandemic, supply chain-constrained, technology-evolving environment. How do you see the industry’s future—and its present? And how does all of this impact your view on your career, and your compensation? Now is your chance to share those views with your colleagues!

The 2023 Salary & Career Survey, presented by Laser Focus World along with Machine Design, Power & Motion, Electronic Design, Microwaves & RF, Vision Systems Design, and Military & Aerospace Electronics, asks survey respondents for views on a variety of topics, including technology adoption, the impact of supply chain issues on manufacturing, and the continuing challenges of workforce shortages in an increasingly automated plant.

Besides a comprehensive review of salaries, bonuses, and other compensation for engineers, the 2023 Salary & Career Survey will take a look at some of the key issues in manufacturing, including:

  • How work has changed in the post-pandemic era. Has work from home increased? Is there a greater reliance on collaborative tools and strategies?
  • From 5G and wireless to electronics and vision systems, which technologies are impacting the current design? And what technologies are expected to be disruptive in the future?
  • Are engineers using artificial intelligence and machine learning as part of their design work? Do they expect it to play a role in the future?
  • And what issues keep the design and operations engineer up at night?

You can begin taking the survey here. Survey responses will be collected through October 13. Results will be reported beginning in November.
