New technology innovation centre in the canton of Schwyz
CSEM opens another location
The CSEM Technology Innovation Centre has been present at the Schwyz site since the beginning of the year, ensuring direct access to key technologies for SMEs. The thematic focus at the new location is on digitalization, artificial intelligence and robotics. In addition, CSEM Schwyz – like all CSEM locations – is a gateway to the entire technology portfolio. On Wednesday, February 18, 2026, the new research and development site in Seewen will be officially opened.
The establishment of the renowned Swiss research and technology centre CSEM in the canton of Schwyz in January 2026 is a milestone – the result of a consistently implemented strategy that is being driven forward by the cantonal government. This has set the course for tackling one of the central challenges clearly identified in the "Economy and Housing 2035" strategy: strengthening the education and research location.
Direct access to cutting-edge technology
CSEM is a non-profit research and technology center with the mission of rapidly translating scientific findings into industrial applications. The aim is to make innovations accessible and to increase the competitiveness of the economy. Its particular strength lies in the combination of applied research with a deep understanding of industrial needs. "The Technology Innovation Center positions itself specifically between basic research, technology transfer and industrial implementation – and thus closes an important gap in the Swiss innovation system," explains Vincent Revol of CSEM.
Technological competence and geographical proximity
In addition to technological expertise, CSEM is characterised by geographical proximity. With the new location in Schwyz, the research centre ensures direct access to key technologies for SMEs, with a special focus on digitalisation, artificial intelligence and robotics. The thematic orientation is based on the current needs of industry in the region and creates new points of contact for joint innovation projects. The exchange with local companies promotes practical developments and facilitates the transfer of research results into marketable solutions. At the same time, each location offers access to CSEM's entire technology portfolio and thus to the knowledge of more than 650 experts.
CSEM
knows and takes into account the needs of the economy and works closely with regional partners such as Schwyz Next, the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and the Ost-Ostschweiz University of Applied Sciences. The aim is to build a bridge between universities and industry and to develop practice-oriented solutions. Cantonal Councillor Petra Steimen-Rickenbacher emphasises: "It is crucial that the solutions are developed locally, in exchange with the companies. This will not only strengthen innovative strength, it will also secure high-quality jobs in the region in the long term." This is because CSEM has around 200 patent families. This comprehensive know-how is available to companies in the canton of Schwyz.
The new location at Bahnhofstrasse 92 in Seewen will be officially opened on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. From 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., CSEM will open its doors to the public.
