Chroma Technology honored by Vision Systems Design 2022 Innovators Awards Program
BELLOWS FALLS, Vermont, 6/6/2022 – Chroma Technology announced today that its ContrastMax SWIR optical filters for machine vision and remote sensing were recognized among the best in machine vision today by the judges of the Vision Systems Design 2022 Innovators Awards program at the Automate Show in Detroit, MI. The judging panel consisted of esteemed experts from system integrators and end-user companies.
“The Vision Systems Design team would like to congratulate Chroma Technology for their Bronze award in the 2022 Innovators Awards program,” says Chris McLoone, Editor in Chief. “Each year this unbiased and increasingly competitive program aims to celebrate the most innovative products and systems in machine vision.”
“We have expanded the ContrastMax wavelength range into the SWIR with a variety of bandpass filters, as well as some multiband filters”, said John Atkinson, Principal Product Engineer. “The use of multi-band filters together with other technological advances makes multispectral imaging far more accessible, especially in more cost-sensitive applications. We designed these filters to optimize the signal to noise ratio and complement the latest advances in sensor technology. We are honored to receive this award in recognition of our efforts.”
Chroma introduced the ContrastMax line of visible spectrum, sputtered interference filter coatings designed for machine vision applications in 2016, and recently expanded the line to include wavelengths up to 2800 nm. This expanded wavelength range now includes single and multiband short-wave infrared (SWIR) filters tailored for machine vision and remote sensing applications such as food inspection and sorting, waste stream sorting and recycling, semiconductor inspection, lidar, and agricultural monitoring.
Delivering the most accurate performance for the same cost as lower-quality interference filters, Chroma’s ContrastMax SWIR optical filters provide an outstanding signal to noise and can significantly improve image quality on a host of applications. Chroma’s filters pass all the light you want and none of the light you wouldn’t want. Our filters provide performance, durability, and value: Everything you need in a machine vision filter.

About the Vision Systems Design 2022 Innovators Awards
The Vision Systems Design 2022 Innovators Awards program reviews and recognized the most innovative products and services in the vision and image processing industry. Criteria used in the Innovators Awards ranking included: originality; innovation; impact on designers, systems integrators, and end-users; fulfilling a need in the market that hasn’t been addressed; leveraging a novel technology; and increasing productivity. This program was developed to recognize some of the most innovative products and solutions available to the machine vision and imaging community, as determined by a panel of senior third-party expert judges.
