Precision Optics for Vacuum UV to Infrared Applications

    Overview

Lithium Fluoride (LiF) lenses are ideal for optical systems requiring high transmission from the vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) region through the infrared (IR) spectrum. With exceptional optical clarity in the 0.104 μm to 7 μm range, LiF lenses are widely used in spectroscopy, laser systems, and X-ray diffraction analysis.

    Manufacturing & Processing

LiF crystals are grown using an improved Bridgman method for enhanced purity and optical performance. Due to the material’s brittleness and relatively low softening point (~600°C), careful handling and precision polishing are essential in the lens fabrication process.

Typical Applications of Lithium Fluoride Lenses

    Optical Instrumentation

    • High-transmittance windows and lenses for VUV, visible, and IR light

    • Components in monochromators, spectrometers, and laser optics

    • Ideal for scientific-grade optical assemblies

    Scientific and Industrial Use

    • X-ray monochromators for crystal defect analysis

    • Support for lattice structure investigation via X-ray diffraction systems

    • Applied in high-energy physics and material science research
