    VI Systems has developed an 850 nm vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) chip array with six emitters evenly positioned in a circular ring. The semiconductor device targets sensor applications, including multicore fiber sensors. Here is shown the pad layout and position of the VCSEL emitters.
    The multimode laser emitter can be combined with a multicore fiber developed by InPhoTech for fiber sensing.
