FARO Technologies was pleased to participate in the 2019 International Laser Safety Conference, a four-day event covering all aspects of laser safety practice and hazard control organized by The Laser Institute of America (LIA). It took place in Kissimmee, Florida March 18-21st.
Presenting the FARO program details to the ILSC panel discussion was Mark Longmuir, Senior Director and Vertical Leader for FARO’s emerging growth Vertical, Photonics. The presentation included information on FARO’s Laser Safety and FAROBest! Continuous Improvement Programs.
In addition, Mr. Longmuir accepted the prestigious ALSE Award for Achievement in Laser Safety Education in the Specialized Manufacturing & Services awarded to FARO. The ALSE award recognizes organizations and their laser safety program managers for dedicating significant time and resources to laser safety with a commitment to a laser safety program, a trained Laser Safety Officer, and ongoing laser safety education.
The award presentation was preceded by the panel discussion showcasing “Photonics and the Future, The Impacts of LIDAR on Safety and Policy,” where autonomous vehicle and metrology applications were discussed.
The FARO Vector platform uses LIDAR technology to complete Large Volume, High-Resolution 3D Imaging, and the FARO Photonics Emerging Vertical fabricates high-speed galvanometer based steering systems that are frequently used in OEM LIDAR applications.
