Photonic Products and e2v win Queen's Awards

Photonic Products laser diode specialist, has been honored for the second time with a Queen's Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category, and e2v technologies has been recognized with its 12th Queen's Award for Enterprise, granted in the Innovation category for the design and manufacture of imaging sensors and cameras.

United Kingdom--Photonic Products (www.photonic-products.com), laser diode specialist, has been honored for the second time with a Queen's Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category, and e2v technologies (www.e2v.com) has been recognized with its 12th Queen's Award for Enterprise, granted in the Innovation category for the design and manufacture of imaging sensors and cameras.

The Queen's Awards for Enterprise are the UK's most prestigious awards for business performance. The awards recognize companies that have demonstrated commercial success through innovative products or services.

In the last 5 years, the company's manufacturing business has grown by over 600% in response to worldwide customer demand for its laser diode modules and optical components, and it has invested in cutting edge manufacturing technology to give increased capacity and considerable gains in productivity. The company's rapid growth prompted its recent move to new premises with a production area of 1242 square meters, giving plenty of room for further expansion.

The winning technology for e2v is used in their expanding range of L3Vision CCD sensors. These sensors can achieve outstanding performance in low-light conditions enabling new advances in life science research. The technology also allows high-resolution imaging for astronomical, surveillance, reconnaissance, and security applications and is supplied either as sensors for further integration into customers' camera systems or as complete cameras. e2v has 1,300 employees worldwide with offices in UK, USA, Germany, France, Canada and a presence in China through the China Britain Business Council, as well as a network of distributors covering other key territories.
