SmartQuantum has launched an ultra-low-noise single-photon detector. The SQLightSensor is a family of ultra-low-noise near-infrared single-photon detectors for the most demanding scientific, defense and industrial applications, such as single-photon counting, spectroscopy, eye-safe laser range finding and LIDAR, optical communications, and quantum cryptography. The SQLightSensor includes a Geiger-mode InGaAs avalanche photodiode and a thermoelectric cooler that ensures high detection efficiency, low dark count, high speed, and low jitter. With its high detection sensitivity, the sensor provides significant benefit over existing detectors. In addition, the sensor provides plug-and-play personal computer connections via the USB interface, which enables the user to easily adjust the detection efficiency and tune the gate width and delay.
