The C-RED scientific infrared (IR) camera can acquire images 3507 times/s. Covering the IR wavelength from 0.8 to 2.5 μm, it uses an electron-initiated avalanche photodiode (e-APD) sensor, which allows noise-free signal multiplications. With a pulse-tube cooler, the camera is fully autonomous, does not need cryogenics instrumentation, and can operate in extreme environmental conditions.
