Digital x-ray CCD camera

March 1, 1995
A cooled charge-coupled-device (CCD) camera (Model XR-200) provides an imaging area of 58.4 ¥ 58.4 mm with 1024 ¥ 1024-pixel resolution for digital x-ray imaging. The use of a fiberoptic reducer allows efficient coupling between the CCD and the x-ray scintillator screen. The digital performance is better than lens-coupled systems and could permit use of reduced x-ray dosage or provide higher image quality than film.
