Laser system speeds circuit-board keihakutansho

A laser-based method of making printed-circuit boards with more performance per unit area than conventional boards has been developed by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. (Osaka, Japan). Designated the any-layer-inner-via-hole (ALIVH) structure, the method uses a CO2 laser and appears ready to make a significant impact on Japan`s electronics-manufacturing industry, which thrives on continuing realization of keihakutansho--lighter, thinner, shorter--for all electronic equipment.
