Fusion splicer

April 1, 1995
Spliceman fusion splicer uses a backlit 48-mm screen to reduce operator eye fatigue associated with microscope-type viewers. A reliable high-intensity red LED provides image clarity under a wide range of ambient lighting. Proven on high-density fiber installations, Spliceman is compatible with single- and multimode fiber with a 125-µm outer diameter cable. Average splice loss is 0.045 dB. Prepared fibers are inserted into the unit, aligned, and then fused in a simple operation.
