Parallel data-transmission system
The Optical Interconnect Modules transmit data over 12 parallel fibers for distances up to 100 m, with each channel transmitting at speeds up to 250 Mbit/s. Transmitter arrays, fiber ribbon, and detector arrays all include 12 channels, allowing the system to transmit 8-bit parallel data as well as clock, control, and parity signals. The InP lasers have 2-mA threshold currents, and power consumption per channel is 200 mW per module. The modules run on 3.3 V and have CMOS interface compatibility.
