Philips enters commercial high-resolution CCD markets

Philips Imaging Technology (PIT, Eindhoven, Netherlands) announced commercial availability of its charge-coupled devices (CCDs) and solid-state imaging products for high-resolution and low-light-level applications. According to Albert Theuwissen, head of the solid-state imaging microcircuits department, PIT expects to produce standard and customized device designs totaling more than 1 million units next year. US sales will be serviced from offices in Slatersville, RI.
