A CCD imaging system designed for professional astronomers, the Aurora incorporates a back-illuminated antireflection-coated Thomson 2048 ¥ 2048-pixel CCD with a low-noise camera controller. Typical read noise is 5-electrons rms, and dark current can be minimized by cooling the CCD and using MP¥clocking.
