Silicon x-ray imager

Aug. 1, 1996
Flat-panel image detector, RID 256, is for medical and industrial x-ray imaging applications. The compact amorphous silicon imager embodies a 20 ¥ 20-cm2 (256 ¥ 256 pixels) active area to detect x-rays and other high-energy radiation ranging from 20 keV to 25 MeV. The device is highly resistant to x-ray degradation, can be placed directly in the beam path, and is part of a radiation-detection system (RIS 256) that includes a computer and demonstration software.
