Large-area photodiodes

Oct. 1, 1998
The 571 Series cooled-head large-area avalanche photodiodes can be used instead of photomultiplier tubes for low-light-detection applications. The photodiodes offer quantum efficiencies of up to 90% and deliver gain of 300 over a spectral range from 350 to 850 nm. A built-in thermoelectric cooler and thermistor are used to stabilize the device`s temperature and minimize dark current and noise. Active-area diameters of 5, 10, and 16 mm are available.
