For the fourth quarter of FY1998, ended September 30, Vivid Technologies (Woburn, MA)--a manufacturer of automated explosives-detection devices--expects revenues of $8.5 million-$9 million. Total revenue for that fiscal year will be about $38.5 million--up 20% from FY1997. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (Gaithersburg, MD) has awarded a contract to Sensors Unlimited (Princeton, NJ) to develop indium phosphide-based wafers that are twice the diameter of current wafers. . . . Correction: In the September 1998 Imaging and Detector Industry Report (p. 51; "Photodiode maker arrives solidly in the black"), we inadvertently misspelled the name of Advanced Photonix Inc. (Camarillo, CA). We apologize for the error.
