March 6, 2008, Bothell, WA and Birkerod, Denmark--Aculight Corporation, a leading developer of innovative laser technologies, and Koheras, a developer and manufacturer of fiber lasers, have entered into a joint marketing agreement for Aculight's Argos single-frequency, continuous-wave, multi-watt, tunable optical parametric oscillator (OPO). Koheras will exclusively sell and market Argos in several European countries, including the UK, Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, BeNeLux and the Nordic countries.

"We're looking forward to expanding our European sales through the joint marketing agreement with Koheras," said Don Rich, Aculight's CEO. "Koheras has an established record of fiber laser sales in Europe, and their existing customer base is a perfect fit for our Argos product. As a longstanding supplier to Aculight, they also have a unique understanding of Argos technology and are highly qualified to promote it to the European scientific and industrial R&D community."

The Argos product offers enabling capability for many high-resolution spectroscopy applications, including photoacoustic and cavity-ringdown spectroscopy, atom trapping, chemical sensing and medical applications. Argos provides customers with the highest power and broadest mode-hop-free tuning range of any OPO on the market.

Argos is a rugged, fiber-pumped, singly resonant OPO that provides continuous tuning from 1.4 to 2 microns and from 2.3 to 3.9 microns using three interchangeable, pre-aligned, wavelength converter modules. Koheras' single-frequency fiber lasers are an integral part of the system.

"This arrangement will not only expand sales of the Koheras fiber laser subcomponent that's in the Argos but it allows us to provide our customers with an enabling source for highly demanding spectroscopy applications," said Jakob D. Skov, Koheras' CEO.
"The Argos is the world's most powerful commercially available cw OPO system. This unique, flexible, near- to mid-IR laser source complements our current product portfolio and enables applications with long-term industrial perspective."
