Hamamatsu develops fingertip-sized spectrometer that couples to smartphones
Hamamatsu Photonics K.K. (Hamamatsu, Japan) has developed the worldâs smallest microspectrometer that can be used in point-of-care testing connected to smartphones and other types of portable measurement.

The fingertip-sized C12666MA microspectrometer offers measurement in the visible wavelength range and provides nearly the same performance as the company's MS series miniature spectrometer while being roughly half its size, they claim.
Samples will be available to manufacturers starting December 25, 2013.
