BioOptics World took its video camera to the recent American Academy of Ophthalmology annual meeting (November 7-11, Atlanta, GA), and there captured a demonstration of Bioptigen's handheld optical coherence tomography (OCT) probe. The video presents a conversation between BioOptics World Editor in Chief Barbara Goode and Bioptigen's Senior Product Engineer Brad Bower. Bower discusses the system, which so far offers the market's only hand-held probe, while his colleague Sunita Sayeram demonstrates its operation.

Bioptigen targets researchers, offering high-resolution over the entire imaging depth. In addition to bores for retinal and corneal imaging, the company offers a bore for small animals such as mice, and is working on a pediatric bore.
