Optovue set to debut widefield en face OCT system for clinical ophthalmology
Spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) system maker Optovue (Fremont, CA) has launched its Avanti widefield en faceOCT system worldwide. The system delivers posterior and anterior OCT imaging at 70,000 A-scans/s, widefield 3D motion correction, and 3 µm digital resolution (sampling) for clinical ophthalmology.

The new system performs 40° widefield en face OCT using the company's SMART Motion Correction, which offers a larger field of view than the standard OCT device, they claim. Additional system utilities include simultaneous multilayered assessment of peripheral retina pathology; retina tracking at 30 frames/s, providing detail and clarity to assess the retina and the ability to monitor patients and track disease progression; fovea location recognition; and deep choroidal imaging, among others.
The company will exhibit the system at its booth (#3221) at the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) meeting, to take place November 16-19, 2013, in New Orleans, LA.
