Haag-Streit Surgical intraoperative OCT camera receives FDA clearance
Haag-Streit Surgical (Wedel, Germany)'s intraoperative optical coherence tomography (iOCT) camera has received FDA clearance for commercialization in the U.S. The iOCT camera is already being used in Europe for cataract operations, lamellar keratoplasties, membrane peelings, and treatment of retinal disorders.

During the course of a surgical procedure, the iOCT system allows noninvasive, real-time, contact-free imaging so that structures and layers within tissue are visible to surgeons. Scans, videos, images, and 3D volume scans can be stored for documentation and subsequent follow-ups.
iOCT images can be displayed simultaneously with the microscope overview in both oculars, helping the physician to steer the treatment field and therefore smooth the operative workflow.
The camera was launched in the U.S. at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) Congress held April 18-21, 2015, in San Diego, CA. For more information, please visit www.haag-streit-surgical.com.
