The iChrome MLE multi-laser engines from Toptica Photonics incorporate up to four different lasers from 405 to 660 nm that deliver free beam or coupled polarization-maintaining fiber, and integrate with microscopes or flow cytometers.

The iChrome MLE multi-laser engines from Toptica Photonics (Victor, NY) incorporate up to four different lasers from 405 to 660 nm that deliver free beam or coupled polarization-maintaining fiber, and integrate with microscopes or flow cytometers. High-speed analog (1 MHz) and digital modulation (20 MHz) allow fast switching between laser wavelengths and intensities, reducing phototoxicity and bleaching.

PRESS RELEASE

New: TOPTICA presents powerful Multi Laser Engine: iChrome MLE

Most compact system for multi-color microscopy and cytometry applications

TOPTICA Photonics presents the iChrome MLE, the world’s most compact and powerful multi laser engine. This powerful engine offers a complete OEM solution for demanding multi-color biophotonics applications. Select up to four different lasers covering wavelengths from 405nm to 660nm to match whatever application you are using. Choose from two system versions: the iChrome MLE-S, an all-diode laser system with up to 4 diode lasers, or the iChrome MLE-L, which includes up to 3 diode lasers and a Diode Pumped Solid-State (DPSS). The individual lasers are efficiently combined in a single box to yield the highest power levels and to deliver free beam or coupled polarization-maintaining fiber (all-in-one PM/SM fiber output). Select from several single-mode fiber delivery wavelengths: 405nm (50mW), 445nm (25mW), 488nm (30mW), 532nm (30mW), 561nm (30mW) and 640nm (50mW).

TOPTICA’s ingenious Constant Optical Output Level (COOLAC) technology automatically aligns the multi-laser system with the push of a button, completely eliminating the need for manual readjustments. COOLAC guarantees true drop-shipment capability, easy installation and exceptional long term operational stability. With the most compact footprint (201 x 250 x 110mm³ for the iChrome MLE-S and 295 x 250 x 110mm³ for the iChrome MLE-L, including integrated electronics) and the most flexible communication interfaces (RS 232, TCP/IP,…), the iChrome MLE clearly stands above the competition –making it the most advanced one-box OEM solution on the market.

The microprocessor controlled system enables flexible OEM integration in instruments such as microscopes or flow cytometers for demanding cell biology applications requiring multiple wavelengths. High speed analogue (1MHz) and digital modulation (20MHz) allow fast switching between laser wavelengths and intensities for minimal exposure to sample reducing phototoxicity and bleaching.

Unique technical features

  • COOLAC-Technology: Constant Optical Output Level due to push-button auto-recalibration. This feature ensures full drop-shipment capability and best stability even under heavily changing ambient conditions
  • FINE: Feedback Induced Noise Eraser for laser diode based wavelengths - Immunization to optical feedback, ideal for fiber coupling and reflective surfaces

Typical applications include:

  • Flow cytometry
  • Confocal microscopy
  • Live-cell imaging
  • Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence (TIRF)
  • Fluorescence Recovery After Photobleaching (FRAP)
  • High throughput screening
  • Genome analyzers

The iChrome MLE will be demonstrated live at Photonics West 2011 in San Francisco at the TOPTICA booth 817.
