DECEMBER 15, 2009--Andor Technology plc (Andor) announced the support for all Andor imaging EMCCD cameras within JPK Instruments AG's (JPK) products for nano-biotechnology.

With the addition of support for Andor's high-performance EMCCD cameras to the JPK software, true integration is obtained between fluorescence imaging on the one hand and JPK's NanoWizard AFM imaging or NanoTracker optical tweezers on the other. Scientists using JPK's patented DirectOverlay functionality can now directly use the images coming from their Andor EMCCD cameras.

As an example, single molecule fluorescence detection and high resolution AFM imaging of single DNA-bound proteins is an application that truly benefits from the combination of both company's advanced imaging products.

Existing JPK customers already owning an Andor EMCCD camera can upgrade their JPK system by purchasing a license for the Andor Linux Software Development Kit (SDK) as well as the Andor driver for JPK's camera software.

With the inclusion of full support for iXon+ EMCCD cameras from Andor Technology, JPK Instruments paves the way for fully integrated AFM and single-molecule fluorescence applications.

Dr. Colin Coates, Imaging Product Manager with Andor Technology said, "This new cooperation with JPK Instruments represents great news to mutual users of our high-performance technologies and to the wider bio-imaging community, offering enhanced potential to interrogate nanoscale environments with accuracy, sensitivity and specificity."
