Microscopy training center Hooke College of Applied Sciences (Westmont, IL) has announced its 2013 schedule of microscopy training courses, to cover topics including particle identification, light microscopy, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, fiber identification, infrared microscopy, Raman microspectroscopy, gunshot residue identification, and sample preparation. Courses are held year-round in the college's classroom laboratories.

The courses are taught using the college's blended learning approach, combining online modules to be completed before class with hands-on, instructor-led classroom laboratory time and post-course online workshops designed to support and solidify what is learned in the classroom.

All course instructors are subject matter experts in their field and practicing scientists, who provide each student with the knowledge, critical thinking, and practical techniques necessary to quickly put their new skills to use on the job.
