Extensive list of microscopy courses available in 2015
Hooke College of Applied Sciences (Westmont, IL), a microscopy training center that offers year-round microscopy and microanalytical training courses, has released its 2015 course schedule. Course topics and techniques include particle identification, light microscopy, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, gunshot residue identification, sample preparation, identification of pharmaceutical contaminants, fiber identification, infrared (IR) microscopy, and Raman microspectroscopy.
Through a cooperative program with the Associated Colleges of the Chicago Area (ACCA), many Hooke College courses offered during 2015 can be taken for credit by undergraduate chemistry and biology students.
Many courses employ a unique blended learning model, using pre-course online activities to introduce concepts and techniques, so that students gain equal understanding before attending classroom sessions. Classroom attendance is followed by post-course online sessions, with assignments—to be completed in the student's own laboratory—that are designed to support and solidify classroom learning.
Hooke College instructors are senior research scientists and materials science industry experts who bring solid knowledge and experience to the classroom. To view the course schedule and for registration details, please visit www.hookecollege.com/schedule.
