• Automated force spectroscopy system by JPK

JPK Instruments' (Berlin, Germany) ForceRobot makes force spectroscopy available as a routine technique for biomedical researchers working with atomic force microscopes (AFMs). It enables unattended operation to make up to 80,000 force curve measurements in 24 hours. It allows the real-time study of molecular interactions on the nano scale, and characterization of biomolecular interactions such as the unfolding forces of single proteins or the forces of a single chemical bond.

JPK Instruments' (Berlin, Germany) ForceRobot makes force spectroscopy available as a routine technique for the life sciences AFM community. Force spectroscopy allows the real-time study of molecular interactions on the nano scale. Originating from atomic force microscopy (AFM), it provides the sensitivity necessary to characterize biomolecular interactions such as the unfolding forces of single proteins or forces of a single chemical bond.

ForceRobot features a rigid head design with excellent low noise and drift specifications is mounted on an integrated vibration isolated platform.

Tools requiring manual-only operation have limited measurement capacity so ForceRobot enables unattended operation to make up to 80,000 force curve measurements in 24 hours. It does away with the need for averaging, labeling or indirect conclusions by delivering clear-cut results with forces and distances specified in absolute numbers. ForceRobot also allows customization of individual experiments with varying parameters such as temperature or loading rate.

Created for the experimentalist, its open software design enables flexibility in establishing measurement and analysis protocols. The system can be monitored remotely via the Internet.
