Confocal microscopy method best identifies melanoma on head, neck
Sept. 7, 2016
A team of researchers identified lesions for which reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) performs better in terms of diagnostic accuracy (Read More at Medical Express).
The BioOptics World take on this story:
In two recent studies published in JAMA Dermatology, two separate teams of researchers found that reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) is the best imaging method for identifying skin cancer lesions on the head and neck because of its diagnostic accuracy. Sensitivity and specificity were 95.3 and 83.9%, respectively.
