(SLIDE SHOW) Supercontinuum sources span the spectrum

By their nature, supercontinuum laser sources span a broad spectrum, much like a prism separates white light into its constituent colors. But new optical architectures and optical fiber designs are extending the wavelength range of supercontinuum sources—as well as their output power levels—beyond the visible rainbow. Supercontinuum laser sources now reach into the ultraviolet and infrared regions of the spectrum, with advances continuing at a rapid pace as the market matures.
