Sturbridge, MA -- Electro-optic manufacturer, Photonis USA, has announced that they have signed a development partnership agreement with IonSense, Inc. of Saugus, MA. The agreement will further enhance the sampling capabilities in IonSense's direct analysis in real time (DART) source products while protecting the applicable patents of both companies.
DART-MS is a technique that ionizes samples in open air and projects the gas vapors into a mass spectrometer for analysis. IonSense has developed a series of simple, low-cost DART source products aimed at routine or specific analysis. Photonis USA is a leader in mass spectrometer sensors and detectors, and holds several patents on its resistive glass inlet tubes that enhance sample throughput. The company recently released an new IMS analyzer platform for use with analytical instruments at the ASMS show in May.
